Data Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform various laboratory tests and experiments following established procedures and protocols.  Assists Department Group Leader in day-to-day operations of department. 

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in training and development for laboratory technicians, ensuring that team members are well-versed in laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and compliance with industry regulations.

  • Collects, prepares, and analyzes samples, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.

  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.

  • Oversees the maintenance, calibration, and proper usage of laboratory equipment. Coordinates with relevant departments for equipment procurement and upgrades.

  • Records and documents experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately. Maintains detailed and organized records for future reference.

  • Implements and adheres to quality control measures to ensure the reliability and reproducibility of results.

  • Implements and maintains quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results. Regularly reviews and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Follows safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Identifies and address potential hazards promptly.

  • Manages laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables. Assists in procurement and restocking activities as needed.

  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation of experimental procedures, results, and other relevant information. Maintains comprehensive and organized records for audit purposes.

  • Ensures instrumentation is properly running and methods are up to date with current revisions.

REPORTS TO:  Department Group Leader

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Guides the work of extraction analysts to ensure samples are extracted and analyzed in a timely fashion.  May organize, set priorities, schedule, and review work, but has no responsibility to hire, terminate, review performance, or make pay decisions.

  • Proficient in data analysis and documentation.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to problem-solve, make decisions, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field

PHYSICAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination.  Work is generally not sedentary; the individual is frequently required to stand, move about laboratory and office (or production) areas. The employee may occasionally move materials up to 20 pounds.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Able to read, comprehend, and convey information in Basic English.  Ability to read and interpret technical information.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL:

The incumbent regularly performs work in a typical laboratory environment and production areas where exposed to dust, heat, chemicals and hazards. Occasional overtime/weekend work required. Travel is not required.
